THE laboratory

The team at RoboHub Eindhoven comprises motivated students and professionals collaborating to discover innovative solutions for robotic systems. Originally initiated as a Fontys Centre of Expertise project, the team has expanded to include diverse experts, all united by a passion for Industry 4.0. They participate in some of the world's most advanced robotics competitions to challenge themselves, drive innovation, and connect with like-minded individuals. Additionally, they share their expertise with companies to facilitate automation and support the fourth industrial revolution for those seeking to embrace it.

THE challenge

The RoboCup is an international competition where people from all over the world are competing in different robotic leagues. They as RoboHub Eindhoven participate in the RoboCup@Work league. The RoboCup@Work is one of the newer leagues within the RoboCup that focuses on Industry 4.0 robotics. The aim is to create an open-source robot that can autonomously navigate through a dynamic environment, search for specific objects using vision and precision handling of these objects using a robotic arm. So they need a low-cost and high-performance robot arm that meets their competition needs.

THE SOLUTION

The Lite 6 features a built-in control box that appeals to the RoboHub Eindhoven team, allowing for easy mounting on the AMR and programming with open-source SDKs. Its end-of-arm I/O facilitates seamless integration of the gripper. The Lite6's performance has surpassed their expectations, especially considering its competitive cost, which initially raised doubts about its capabilities.

Because of the price to performance. It exceeds our expectations because we had our doubts that it would work this well for this price point. Also, it does not need a big control box which was the biggest plus point for us. The technical setup is easy and straightforward.
